Conner Reynolds: “Everything was annoying” — how a Denver hitting facility cut 15 hours a month of spreadsheet admin

Conner's cage was never the problem. His athletes had two TVs of live feedback while they hit. The problem started after they left — and it lived in a Google Sheet. This is what changed, in his own words.

Before: three data sources, one Google Sheet, 20 hours a month

Conner runs his own hitting facility in Denver, and he was already capturing more data than most private coaches ever see. Getting it into one place was the job nobody sees.

“Google Sheets to combine the Blast Motion, Full Swing/Rapsodo data + height & weight,” he says. “I would spend close to 20 hours a month of admin data pull each CSV from Full Swing and Blast. Combining them into one sheet.”

Asked what the most annoying part was, he didn't pick one: “Everything was annoying. Filtering data, sorting each session and putting each one of those rounds from each session under the right player. Find their 1/8th data, etc.”

Here's the part worth sitting with, because it's the opposite of the usual story. The in-session experience was already excellent. “In sessions players have a 75in tv for Full Swing data/replay and a 65" tv for Blast Motion. In session they have been able to see what each swing looks like and what the numbers look like with it.” The gap opened the moment a hitter walked out the door: “After they would have to wait till the end of the month to look at the average of that data, and that's it.”

A month of waiting, for an average. All of it downstream of one person and one spreadsheet.

Why he switched

“I joined because the idea of being able to centralize everything into one app is a dream.”

Setup, in full: “Setup is easy.”

How he runs it now

The cage didn't change. What happens after it did. “Now, it's the same in the session but now I am able to upload the data to their profile right away so they can see their data on the drive home,” Conner says. “They can see the trends and understand where that session ranks in their most recent sessions, and the growth over time.”

The features he actually reaches for: “I use the automatic Full Swing email upload, leaderboard, and wellness check.” The Full Swing path is the email-forward option — he forwards the session report and CoachConnect reads it onto the right athlete's record, so there is no CSV to download, sort, or file. Blast and Rapsodo come in as CSV uploads with auto-detection.

The reaction from the people paying for it, and the people doing the work: “The players love the leaderboard, and the parents love being able to actually see the growth of the player.”

Around that data workflow, he runs the rest of the facility on the same platform. Group hitting runs as live sessions, where he awards points in the cage and puts the leaderboard on the TV to gamify the work. He assigns programming to athletes through the program builder, and the 20–35 one-hour sessions a week are booked through CoachConnect scheduling.

The results — his numbers

  • 15 hours a month saved on admin, down from close to 20.
  • 30 athletes on the roster, 20–35 sessions a week, all one hour long.
  • Same-day feedback instead of a month-end average — “they can see their data on the drive home.”

Two honest notes, because he gave them. His roster is the same size as it was before he switched — 30 players then, 30 players now. And no-shows are, in his words, “something still having a little bit of a thing with right now.” What changed for Conner is the admin load and how fast his hitters see themselves improving, not the size of his business.

His advice to coaches still stitching CSVs together

“This is what you have been hoping for. This is what you have been saying ‘if only I could make’ while staring at a screen on hour 4 of spreadsheets.”
